MATCHA LATTE ART BATTLE

L'ESTA Matcha Latte Art Battle is a competition created to showcase the possibilities offered by attractive milky and herbal teas in a dynamic coffee environment.
It highlights the skills of free pouringwhile maintaining the emphasis on quality and taste of the overall experience.
The barista's matcha whipping skills play an essential role in achieving a balanced taste in the Matcha Latte.

The Battle
Battle procedure
In the battle, two competitors face off at the same time.
They have a maximum of 4 minutes to (weigh, sieve and) whip the matcha, froth the milk/vegetable drink provided by the sponsor, create their best Matcha Latte Art and present their drink to the judges.
Competitors can start when the MC gives the starting signal, and time stops as soon as both drinks are placed in front of the judges.
As soon as the judges' evaluation is complete, the MC asks them to name their favorite drink on the count of three.
The competitor with the most votes moves on to the next round.
Jury
L'ESTA Matcha Latte Art Battle is judged by a panel of 3 judges :
-a Matcha specialist,
-a specialist in sponsored milk/vegetable drinks,
-a specialist in Latte Art.
The judges quickly assess the Latte Art, then taste the two drinks at different points on the cup.
Using matcha and milk/vegetable drinks
Only Matcha and the milk/vegetable drink supplied by the sponsor are permitted during the battle.
Use of equipment/tools/cups
Competitors must use the machine provided to froth the milk/vegetable drink.
It is also compulsory to use the sponsored cups to present the Matcha Latte.
Although it is recommended that you bring your own equipment, the matcha tools available are :
-matcha bol (chawan),
-bamboo whisk (chasen),
-bamboo spoon (chashaku),
-matcha sieve.
Competitors are not allowed to place anything on the judges' table other than what is needed to prepare drinks.
They should bring their own milk jugs and scales if necessary.
