Visit Brewers CUP Masters  highlights the art of gentle filter coffee extraction and the sensory experience that surrounds it.

It's a competition that values both :

Qualifications: Compulsory Service

Chaque candidat reçoit, le jour même, 250 g de café et 2 L d’eau afin de s’entraîner. Afin de garantir un temps d’entraînement équitable pour tous, chacun recevra le café une heure avant son passage.

Other materials and extraction methods are free.

8 min set-up + 10 min preparation.

Objective 3 identical coffees as faithfully as possible.

The competitor explains his method and his choice of extraction → but only the cup result counts.

The judges will take part in a preliminary calibration with the imposed coffee.

Temps et règles 

10 min maximum → penalty if overrun (-1 point per minute).

-Beyond 15 min → disqualification.

Each judge must be provided with an individual coffee (min. 180 ml).

Judges and criteria

Judges evaluate :

Cup quality: aromas, flavours, acidity, sweetness, balance, texture, aftertaste

Accuracy: correspondence with descriptors supplied by the coffee roaster

À l’issue des qualifications, les 6 meilleurs scores accèdent à la finale.

Finale: Open Service

Free coffee - Free water - Free equipment

Baristas bring their own coffee, water and equipment, and choose their extraction method: V60, AeroPress, Origami, etc.

5 min set-up + 10 min presentation and preparation.

Objective Prepare 3 individual coffees: one for each judge.

The barista must present his or her coffee: origin, roaster, aromatic profile, extraction method, choice of recipe.

Time and rules :

10 min maximum → penalty if overrun (-1 point per minute).

Beyond 15 min → disqualification.

Each judge must receive an individual coffee (min. 120 ml).

Judges and criteria

Judges evaluate :

Cup quality: aroma, flavor, acidity, sweetness, balance, texture...

Accuracy: correspondence between the advertised descriptors and the coffee tasted

Service & presentation: hospitality, clear communication, highlighting the coffee experience

Technique & workflow: extraction techniques, cleanliness, organization, consistency

Key rules

No additives: only coffee + water (no flavoring, no food).

No on-stage coaching or assistance.

Each coffee for the judges must be prepared separately.
